Vickery Herrera Center

Vickery Herrera Center is a PCBC ministry that serves the Vickery Meadow area of Dallas, an area that has one of the largest refugee populations in the United States. Our mission is to share the Gospel and the love of Christ with the Vickery Meadow Community and make a holistic impact by meeting the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of individuals and families.

The dedicated team at our Vickery Herrera Center is passionate about leading all nations and generations to love Jesus. By God's power and grace, we are celebrating:

  • 3,360 families served through food distribution
  • 780 refugee families given essential items through our collection drives at PCBC
  • Growth to 45 regular attendees at Vickery Worship on Sundays, where the Gospel is shared every week
  • 300 attendees at Christmas Posada, with many giving their lives to Christ
  • The "Chosen" Bible study for women that is continuing to grow

Our mission to lead all nations and generations to love Christ continues to bear fruit as we witness his faithfulness in every aspect of our work. Because of PCBC’s unwavering support, generosity, and prayers, the Vickery Herrera Center (VHS) is making a lasting impact on many lives. All for the glory of God!

None of this would be possible without God’s grace and the dedicated team he has called to serve: Pastor Alejandro López; our worship team; the Estrella brothers; our children’s teachers, Mrs. Terri Heard, Angélica Castañeda, and Sister Glenda Boling; Luisa Ángel, our VHC administrator; and many other faithful brothers and sisters who pour their hearts into this ministry.

Sarah's Story

Sarah is a young woman who recently arrived from Honduras. She lives with her husband and their baby. She came to the Vickery Herrera Center through a Hispanic women's group called "Elegidas," which meets every other Monday morning. When she first arrived, she was struggling with anxiety and depression due to the loneliness she felt.

Through the group, she was able to overcome these challenges and reconnect with God. Sarah says, "Since I started attending the Elegidas group, I feel that I am not alone and that God has not abandoned me." She is being discipled and now serves as an assistant teacher at PCBC Vickery.

Collection drives at PCBC throughout the year helped keep the VHC stocked and prepared to serve families every day – as well as following the tragic fire that destroyed many apartments this past March.

Angel Tree Gift Delivery

390 gifts were collected at PCBC and delivered to families in Vickery this Christmas!

This year, the Angel Tree program was expanded to receive donations for 61 beds to be constructed and delivered to kids. It was the first time for many kids to sleep in their very own bed!

Christmas Posada

Posada 2024 was a joyful, Christ-centered celebration at the Vickery Herrera Center, where over 300 people from more than nine countries - and backgrounds in Muslim, Catholic, and Hindu faiths - gathered to hear the Gospel. This powerful event reflects our dedication to God's mission to lead all nations and generations to love Jesus.

Vickery Herrera Easter Festival

The Vickery Herrera Easter Festival was a joyful celebration filled with crafts, inflatable games, food, and worship, where the gospel was shared with over 200 people, with 70 people receiving prayer and 35 people making professions of faith.

VBS at Vickery

By God's grace, 206 individuals — including 128 children and 78 mothers — joined us over three joyful days of Vacation Bible School in Vickery, where children engaged in activities, crafts, songs, and the life-changing message of Jesus. With 28 volunteers and 160 snacks, we were able to give generously, and God's inexhaustible love overflowed, leading to 14 "next steps" in discipleship and 40 professions of faith — including one from a Muslim background.

Weekly worship at the Vickery Herrera Center has grown to 45 regular attendees! We praise God for the way he is moving in our community.

But if anyone has this world's goods and sees a brother or sister in need, yet closes his heart to him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or deed, but in truth.

JOHN 3:17-18
