Scripture Guides Us: The Core of Our Discipleship Ministry

God’s Word teaches us how to live like Jesus and drives all that we do as a church. The PCBC family unites around scripture through Connect Groups and our Dwell reading plan – as we grow in becoming devoted Christ followers who extend love, grace, and service to others.

Growing in the Word Together

I'm excited to see new groups launching, more people engaging in Connect Groups, and more people using DWELL journals to read and journal, many of whom are inviting friends and neighbors to join them.

We're expanding GROW on Wednesday evenings to offer something for everyone. Additionally, we're launching new Connect Groups across all adult age groups. If you're not in a group and would like help finding one, or would like to help us start a new one, let's get together!

This coming year, we’re excited to add a part-time Women’s Minister to strengthen our Women's Ministry. We’re also planning two major marriage ministry events: a virtual event with Les & Leslie Parrott in August 2025 and a regional marriage enrichment conference in the Spring of 2026.

OUR ENTIRE DISCIPLESHIP TEAM IS GRATEFUL AND EXCITED TO BE SERVING WITH YOU!

Building Faith for the Future

It is my privilege to serve as your Young Adult Connections Pastor! Over the past four years, I have served our church in various capacities, beginning with being a part of the first Residency Class. Currently, I am responsible for our Young Adults, Marriage, and Men's Ministries. God continues to refine my calling into pastoral ministry through the encouragement and mentorship of our members and leadership. I can’t imagine serving a more generous and loving group of people!

God is at work among our young adults, men's, and marriage ministries! We continue to witness countless lives transformed through the faithful partnership of our staff and lay leaders in these areas. This spring, we celebrate one year of The Bridge, our renewed College Ministry, and we are planning for a strong fall launch to bring new students our way! Our NearlyWed, NewlyWed, and Marriage Core programs have experienced a steady stream of engagement with many personal stories of radical relationship and marriage breakthroughs. Finally, our Men's Ministry has seen incredible involvement in our lunches, Bible studies, and conversations around faith.

PRAISE GOD FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS TO US AND FOR THE GENEROSITY OF OUR CHURCH FAMILY!

Building Foundations of Wisdom

Our Senior Adults are actively running the race (Hebrews 12:1–3) — leading with faith, leaving a strong legacy of wisdom and faithfulness, and loving others through prayer, praise, and service.

Connect Groups are thriving, offering deep Bible study, meaningful friendships, and a strong sense of community. Our Serving Hands team has helped hundreds of in-home members with practical needs, and our care ministry continues to support those in hospitals and at home. From intergenerational dinner concerts to a live butterfly garden that welcomed hundreds of guests to our campus before Easter, this group continues to bless our church and community.

Looking ahead: exciting local day trips this summer, the return of our Hymn Sing and Art Show in the fall, and a lineup of guest speakers addressing key life topics throughout the year. And coming soon, we're launching PlusLife, a brand new ministry for adults ages 55–75 focused on equipping this vibrant generation through learning, serving, missions, and connection.

THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

Creating Spaces for Women To Gather and Grow

The Women’s Ministry Council launched in August 2024 with 12 faithful lay leaders who answered the call to “stand in the gap” for a ministry just for women. Over the past year, this team has prayerfully and creatively revitalized PCBC’s Women’s Ministry, hosting various events, including game nights, luncheons, A Table for the Ages, and a Women’s Night of Worship.

Trisha Sheffield, a member of the Council, shared, “The response to these events has been overwhelmingly positive, with women of all ages expressing gratitude for the return of gatherings that offer encouragement and connection for women.” With hearts grounded in 1 Thessalonians 2:8, the Council remains committed to creating opportunities for women that foster fellowship and sharing the love of Christ. “As we wait prayerfully and expectantly for our next Women’s Minister,” she continued, “we continue to plan for the future with a Back to School Prayer Brunch in August and a return of the beloved Women’s Dinner in November!”

Reflecting on this past year with thanksgiving for all that the Lord has accomplished through our hands,

WE LOOK TO THE FUTURE WITH ANTICIPATION, TRUSTING HIS TIMING FOR THE WOMAN HE IS PREPARING TO LEAD.

Training Hearts and Minds for Ministry

This year, our residents served in Worship, Kids, Students, Discipleship, and Spanish Language ministries. As always, we've gotten to know and love them and the unique gifts they bring to our church family.

Because of the generous investment that makes our Residency program possible, PCBC is able to send out new leaders to be the light of Christ wherever they go on to serve.

THANK YOU, CHURCH FAMILY, FOR COMING ALONGSIDE AND BEING A BLESSING TO OUR RESIDENTS YEAR AFTER YEAR.

Preparing and Encouraging Church Planters

PCBC believes in making disciples through church planting. Most of our church’s mission partners are church planters, so we were ready when our friends at Texas Baptists approached us over six years ago to launch the Church Pastoral Center (CPC). Each year, the CPC is a place for pastors to come and be encouraged, loved, and trained for the hard work of starting a new church. Since our launch, we have been blessed to train 38 pastors — with at least 31 of them continuing to pastor their congregations.

Through the church plants we have supported over the past six years, there have been 245 professions of faith and 123 baptisms!

This fall, we will host our seventh class of church planters.

GOD HAS BEEN GOOD, AND OUR PCBC FAMILY HAS BEEN FAITHFUL IN GENEROSITY AS WE CELEBRATE THE GROWTH OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD THROUGH THE CPC.

Connecting All Generations Through Reading

THE PCBC LIBRARY IS A PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL SPACE THAT TRULY EMBODIES OUR MISSION TO LEAD ALL GENERATIONS TO LOVE JESUS.

Books for kids, students, and adults — plus commentaries and research material — are always available for personal and spiritual enrichment. It's also a place to gather for community and discussions around life stages, cultural issues, and more.

BETWEEN THE PAGES

For the past five years, Between the Pages Book Club has met monthly, bringing together members who share a love of reading. Through thoughtful discussion around a selected book, our group has found community and grown spiritually.

COMMUNITY STORY TIME

The library welcomes PCBC families and many from our broader community to Community Story Time for preschoolers — complete with stories, songs, and special visitors.

FAITHFULLY YOURS

Celebrating 10 years in June, Faithfully Yours is a joint ministry between the women of Concord Church and Park Cities Baptist Church, created to foster racial reconciliation and friendship through shared faith. Since 2015, women from both congregations have gathered quarterly for brunches and book discussions, deepening our bonds.

SUMMER READING CLUB

Each summer, kids track their reading progress and earn fun prizes as they engage with books. A highlight for many years, we’re excited to see some past participants return as parents, bringing their own children to join the fun.

This Year's Discipleship Events

LEADER RECHARGE GATHERINGS

Opportunities for our lay leaders and teachers to learn and be in community took place throughout the year and even helped inspire the creation of new Connect Groups!

GROW

GROW is where weekday ministry happens to help us grow deeper in our faith. An incredible Fall 2025 lineup will be published this summer!

DWELL JOURNALS/ ADVENT GUIDE

Our quarterly Dwell journals led us through reading the Bible daily and writing about our encounters with God's Word.

Our 2024 Advent Guide was a mix of scripture, devotions, and worshipful Christmas music to remind us daily about the wonder and hope of Christ's birth.

HOLY WEEK DEVOTIONALS

For Holy Week 2025, we expanded our devotional content to include both the written word and a daily podcast from our ministers' team. We saw hundreds engaging with us each day in reflection and worship.

BUTTERFLY GARDEN

This new event was such a hit for our community, as over 750 visited the church to see a live butterfly exhibit, fully constructed, sponsored and staffed by our 55+ Team.

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." At once they left their nets and followed him.
